Time: 6:30 PM - 11:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
International Astronomy Day is April 29th! Come celebrate at the Atascocita Stay Party & Picnic, a free family public event.
Greater Atascocita has this community Star Party and Picnic every April and October at the Atascocita Neighborhood Walmart. Members of the community get together for some good company, food, and star gazing.
Target viewing objects for the April 2017 event will be the Sun, Jupiter, Mars, Moon, Orion Nebulae, and comet 41P.
So bring your blanket, chair and guitar and join your friends, meet your neighbors, do some networking at a free fun family event.
Food and beverages sponsored by Walmart, Culvers and others. We will be viewing the Sun with a solar telescope from the Insperity Observatory and astronomers from the North Houston Astronomy Club will be bringing many other telescopes to view the night sky! We encourage you to bring your own telescope or binoculars.
Lone Star College will have their large 25" telescope there. It's so big it has its own travel trailer and you need a step ladder to look into the eyepiece!
Hosted by JPL Solar System Ambassador and Leadership Lake Houston Alumni Todd Sullivan, he collaborated with the local Neighborhood Walmart for the space to host the event and Chris, General Manager at Walmart donates the hot-dogs, chips, and soda;  Lisa, the co-owner of Culvers on Atascocita Road, donates the custard.

There is no rain date. Should the event be cancelled due to weather, there will a notification on its Facebook page by 4 pm.
