Delegates travel to Austin to discuss priorities with legislators

Registration is now open for community members to join the Lake Houston Area Chamber’s Public Affairs committee at the capitol in Austin to advocate for area businesses and to present the Chamber’s legislative priorities to legislators on February 27- 28.

The cost for each delegate to attend the Legislative Trip to Austin presented by Walgreens is $165. Registration includes legislative briefings, the legislative reception and dinner sponsored by the City of Humble and the legislative breakfast. Hotel reservations are not included in the registration fee and must be made separately by delegate contacting Hotel Ella.

Confirmed legislative meetings include:

- Senator Brandon Creighton, Dist. 4
- Chris Wallace, President, Texas Association of Business (TAB)
- State Representative Dan Huberty, Dist. 127
- Commissioner Mike Morath, Texas Commissioner of Education 
- Carlton Schwab, President/CEO of the Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC)
More meetings will be confirmed soon.

A room block has been set aside for Lake Houston Area delegates at Hotel Ella, which is within walking distance to the capitol. The rate is $185 for a single queen and $235 for a deluxe double queen. Mention ‘Lake Houston Area Chamber of Commerce’ when making reservations. Hotel reservations must be made by February 6.
